Your Support for AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master
Welcome to the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master support page. Here, you'll find everything you need, from user guides, FAQs instructional videos and troubleshooting tips to get the most out of your device and all its consumables.
Under the device, you will find the nameplate. The serial number is written next to SN logo.
To do the water lines cleaning and disinfection, and if you have the AIRFLOW® STATION+, the NIGHT CLEANER bottle must be placed onto the cart. No water bottle on top of the unit. This to ensure 100% cleaning access to all liquid leading lines. Then follow the everyday maintenance cleaning steps on the device
Be careful: Only use the air function of the syringe to clean the powder chamber
Check the electrical connection and power socket to make sure the device is properly plugged in.
If the device is properly plugged in there might be an issue with the fuses.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.

Stop using your device immediately, disconnect the main plug and contact EMS aftersales service.

!\ First disconnect the mains plug.
This symptom is generally caused by a problem to the pressure regulator (fault or low temperature) or by a crack in the water bottle.
1. Stop using your device immediately and disconnect it from the grid.
2. Check the bottle in use for crack or any damage and, if the case, replace it with a new one.
3. Check the supplied air pressure: it shall be 4.5 bar minimum. 6 bar ideally.
4. If the device temperature is below 10°C (device too cold), wait for it to warm-up at ambient temperature and then reconnect to the power grid and switch it on again.
5. If the device temperature is over 10°C, or the problem recurs, definitively stop using it and contact EMS aftersales service.
Use a cleaning and disinfecting wipe (less than 35% alcohol) that complies with the standards applicable in the country.
EMS recommends the use of either - CleanWipes, IC-100 or PlastiSept Eco Wipes from ALPRO MEDICAL GmbH. - Micro-Kleen3™ Surface Disinfectant Wipes from Micro-Scientific. - CaviWipes1™ or Caviwipes™ 2.0 from Metrex Wipe and dry the device after disinfection and/or decontamination. Once a week use a damp micro fiber cloth with warm water to remove the residue build up that all wipes can leave on your AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master, cords and handpieces followed by a dry off with a soft non lint cloth
DO NOT use paper towels as these can be abrasive. Follow carefully the instructions provided by the wipes manufacturer. DO NOT use CaviWipes™ or Advantaclear wipes. They damage EMS products.

It is time to send your device to your yearly maintenance service. Contact EMS aftersales service.
Permanent or transitory hardware fault condition detected.
1. Unplug the device power cord
2. Wait for 30 seconds
3. Plug it back again and restart the device
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
The foot pedal 2x AA lithium batteries need to be replaced.
Alternatively, you might need to re-pair the foot control with the unit.
Perform a new pairing by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to pair the wireless pedal with the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master?
The problem may have multiple causes. A step-by-step multiple checks are required.
1. The pedal is not detected (at least one pedal must be connected to operate the device):
2. Wired pedal may be disconnected. Check if the jack is fully inserted. Restart the device.
3. Wireless pedal is not paired. Perform a new pairing by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to pair the wireless pedal with the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master?
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
AIRFLOW® and PIEZON® handpiece cords are not detected or missing. At least one cord system is required to operate the device. You will need to re-connect the cords.
1. Switch the device off
2. Underneath the device, slide the lever towards you and pull the black connector out. 3. Disconnect both AIRFLOW® and PIEZON® handpiece cords and clean the electric contacts (jacks) present on the cord system connections. Also blow air to clean the device connection receptacles.
4. Reinstall both handpiece cords: insert the black connector back into the slot making sure the white dot on the connector is aligned with the black dot on the device and push it in hard until you see the green/lock appearing
5. Start the device again.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.

/!\ First disconnect the mains plug.
1. Your device is too hot. Disconnect the device for an hour and then turn it on again.
2. Your device is too cold. Wait for the device to warm up to room temperature and try to turn it on again.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
Note: This error is also displayed while the device is operated under the minimum temperature (operating conditions: 10 °C to 35°C). In this case, wait for the device to warm up to the ambient temperature.
Either the air line is not connected or there is not enough air pressure.
1. Check the air line for no kinking and check the air compressor unit. Air compressor should delivered 4.5 bar pressure, 6 bar ideally.
2. Check air filter for cleanliness and replace if dirty.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
The problem may have multiple causes. A step-by-step multiple checks are required. The AIRFLOW® Handpiece may be clogged.
1. Follow the maintenance process to prevent or unclogg the handpiece by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to reprocess and prevent clogging on AIRFLOW® MAX handpiece?
If the unclogging of the handpiece doesn't fix the issue it may indicate a clogged AIRFLOW® cord.
2. Dismount and clean the AIRFLOW® cord extremity.
3. Blow with compressed air through the one end and then repeat fro the other end. If there is no air coming out, the AIRFLOW® cord is clogged.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
1. Powder chamber is filled beyond the maximum level marked.
2. Remove the powder exceeding the MAX sign on the bottle.
3. Check the small seal on the powder chamber lead for being worn out/ replace if necessary the lid or big seal BC-262 for lid. If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service
Clean the powder chamber, the cap and the bottom O-rings with a wet cloth. Also, clean the connecting elements on the device.
If the issue is not resolved, you might have to replace the powder chamber or the bottle lit with a new one, please contact EMS aftersales service.
The problem may have multiple causes. A step-by-step multiple checks are required. Remove the AIRFLOW® Handpiece and try to pressurize the powder chamber. If the powder chamber pressurize:
1. The Handpiece may be clogged. Follow the maintenance process to prevent or unclogg the Handpiece by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to reprocess and prevent clogging on AIRFLOW® MAX handpiece?
If the powder chamber do not pressurize, 2 options:
1. The issue is the same with both powder chamber - The air pressure may not be sufficient. Check if the compressor is on and the device is correctly connected. If necessary, contact your technician and check the air pressure.
2. The issue is not the same with both powder chamber - The powder may be stuck inside the chamber. Shake the powder chamber properly before use. - If this doesn’t help, remove the powder from the powder chamber, dry it using compressed air and add new powder. - If this doesn’t help, perform the whole chamber cleaning process. Follow the maintenance process to clean the powder chamber by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to clean the powder chamber?
If the cap's top O -ring is missing, a new cap is needed. If the caps inner O-ring is missing or damaged, a new O-ring is required. If the O-ring located at the bottom cover of the bottle is missing, the entire bottom cover must be replaced. If this doesn't help, replace the powder chamber or bottle lid with a new piece or contact EMS service support.
1. Ensure the bottle cap has been correctly closed.
2. Clean the connection: cap and device sides.
3. If the bottle is still leaking, inspect the bottle and cap for any cracks.
4. Replace the bottle in case the bottle is damaged If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
1. Make sure you have set your water regulators to 10: maximum flow on the cords.
2. Make sure you have well-connected cords and sufficient pressure (air pressure: 4.5 to 7 bar. Ideally 6 bar. / water pressure: 2 to 5 bar)
3. Perform a second rinsing phase before treatment. If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
1. Turn off the device.
2. Under the device, move the lever towards yourself and take out the black part (connector) of the cord
3. Check the connector for dried Night Cleaner. If there are traces of it, clean them.
4. For PIEZON® only, check the pins on connector with the handpiece. If the pins on the cord are oxidized or have night cleaner inside the pins, clean the pins or replace the cord.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
Check if the handpiece is properly connected
For AIRFLOW® cord: In case of leakage at the AIRFLOW® Handpiece connection with the AIRFLOW® cord, replace the o-rings of the cord with the spare provided in the EL-1076 Kit located in the AIRFLOW® application box. Follow the maintenance process by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to change the O-ring of the AIRFLOW® cord?
For PIEZON® cord: In case of leakage at the PIEZON® handpiece connection with the PIEZON® cord, replace the o-rings of the cord with the spare BC-083 provided in the PIEZON® application box. Follow the maintenance process by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to change the O-ring of the PIEZON® cord?
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
/!\ Risk of fire and electric shock.
It may be time to replace O-rings.
1. Turn the device off
2. Under the device, move the lever towards yourself and take out the black part (connector) of the cord.
3. Check the integrity of the O-rings.
O-rings are worn out: contact EMS aftersales service to obtain them
O-rings are not worn out: The cable may not be properly connected. Check the cord connections.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
The AIRFLOW® pinching element might be worn out or the air interface is dirty and is leaking powder.
1. Disconnect the cord, clean the air jack and connect again.
2. If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
The AIRFLOW® cord pinch valve is not closing. Contact EMS aftersales service.
In the case is evident that the pedal remained pressed for longer than 10min, simply turn off the device and try again.
If not this case, the problem may have multiple causes. A step-by-step multiple checks are required:
1. Switch-off the device, disconnect and reconnect both the AIRFLOW® and PIEZON® cord. Try again.
2. Perform a new pairing. Watch the video on the maintenance chapter. Try again.
3. Change the 2x AA lithium batteries. Perform a new pairing by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to pair the wireless pedal with the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master? Try again.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
1. Disconnect and reconnect the pedal.
2. Check the cable for damage.
3. Restart the device.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
Make sure the foot control is correctly positioned in front of the device and nothing/no one is positioned between the device and the foot control.
Make sure you are using lithium batteries.
Alternatively, you might need to re-pair the foot control with the unit.
Perform a new pairing by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to pair the wireless pedal with the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master?
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service."
1. Check the retaining ring in the tip of the cord. This ring should not be damaged and should be correctly positioned.
2. If the ring is too loose, replace it with a new one. Be careful on how the O-ring is installed, it should have the flat area towards the base of the cord and the round part towards the tip of the nozzle. Follow the maintenance process by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to change the O-ring of the AIRFLOW® cord?
Clean and dry the pins on the bottom of the connected handpiece and the cord. Connect both of them back again and try again. If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
For all handpieces: Make sure you have set your water to 10 (maximum flow on the cord)
AIRFLOW® Handpiece
1. Verify that the handpiece is not clogged by removing it and checking the water flow without Handpiece. If the Handpiece is clogged, follow the maintenance process to prevent or unclogg the handpiece by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to reprocess and prevent clogging on AIRFLOW® MAX handpiece?
2. Check your water filter cleanliness and replace it if necessary. Disconnect the mains plug before servicing any filter.
3. Make sure you have well-connected and sufficient pressure from your water supply. If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
PERIOFLOW® Handpiece
1° Change the PERIOFLOW Nozzle
2° Remove the PERIOFLOW Nozzle and verify that a water jet comes out of the handpiece If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
Check if the handpiece is properly connected
For AIRFLOW® or PERIOFLOW® handpiece: In case of leakage at the AIRFLOW® Handpiece connection with the AIRFLOW® cord, replace the o-rings of the cord with the spare provided in the EL-1076 Kit located in the AIRFLOW® application box. Follow the maintenance process by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to change the O-ring of the AIRFLOW® cord?
For PIEZON® handpiece: In case of leakage at the PIEZON® handpiece connection with the PIEZON® cord, replace the o-rings of the cord with the spare BC-083 provided in the PIEZON® application box. Follow the maintenance process by watching the video on the maintenance chapter. Go to MAINTENANCE section and select How to change the O-ring of the PIEZON® cord?
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
1. Check the position of the PERIOFLOW Nozzle and its position on the handpiece
2. Change the PERIOFLOW Nozzle
3. Check for residues between the PERIOFLOW Nozzle and the handpiece
4. Check that nothing affects the alignment of the PERIOFLOW Nozzle
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
Make sure you are using approved solution for the reprocessing. Follow the reprocessing instructions on https://eifu.ems-instruction.com/EMS/, select your country and enter the product code FB-358. Ensure that the Handpiece is fully dried before sterilization.
AIRFLOW® Handpiece:
1. Check the state of the nozzle
2. Replace the handpiece
PERIOFLOW® Handpiece
1 .Replace the nozzle and check the fit of the nozzle.
2. If the PERIOFLOW Nozzle doesn’t hold or it is not watertight, please contact EMS aftersales service.
PIEZON® Handpiece
If the PIEZON® Handpiece falls on the PIEZON® Instrument: Replace the PIEZON® Instrument Check the state of the nozzle. If the PIEZON® Handpiece doesn't work or in case of doubt, contact EMS aftersales service
1. Clean and dry the handpiece connection and try again.
2. Your PIEZON® Handpiece LED might have been switched off by activity time-outs:
- after 10 minutes of continuous operation,
- or after 20 seconds of inactivity off the holder.
In both cases, put back the handpiece into the holder, wait 1 minute and try again.
If still not solved, contact EMS aftersales service.
1. Check the light guide and replace if necessary. The product reference is FV-065.
2. If the light is still weak, replace the handpiece. Contact EMS aftersales service.
