The treatment with the PS Instrument is pain-free1 if used the correct way. A pain-free¹ and pleasant treatment is the dream of every patient. This is the key to patient loyalty and satisfaction.
The PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ MAX module automatically adjusts the device's power based on the type of calculus it encounters. Instead of always using the maximum preset power, the system dynamically increases or decreases
the power depending on the nature of the calculus, rather than just its presence.
The PIEZON® system technology was originally invented in Switzerland in 1981 by Pierre Mabille, co-founder of EMS. It was redesigned with all the technical expertise from the Valley-de-Joux and in collaboration with Jaeger-LeCoultre (the famous watchmaker).

Supra & subgingival scaling and periodontal debridement up to 10 mm. The PS instrument is designed to be as slim and smooth as a periodontal probe - minimally invasive, maximally preventive and tissue friendly, preserving the tissues with its unique linear movement.

PIEZON® PI Max
The new PIEZON® PI MAX Instrument is a thin instrument for peri-implant treatments up to 3 mm. Being as thin as a perio probe, the instrument offers a maximum of accessibility around implant abutments. Thanks to its flexibility, all sensitive surfaces can be cleaned safely. The instrument is made of a medical-grade stainless steel support and a high-tech Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) instrument tip, filled with 30% carbon. The special composition of the instrument tip does not damage the implant surface during the treatment. The PEEK charged with carbon delivers correct flexibility and a linear movement.

PIEZON® PSR & PSL
Superior efficacy in heavy calculus removal compared to the PIEZON® PS NO PAIN1 instrument. They save time, especially during initial periodontal therapy, and are indicated for adult patients only.

Removes calculus from areas that are difficult to reach:
- Distal and mesial interproximal surfaces
- Supragingival and subgingival up to 8 mm
PIEZON® P
Instrument is mainly used for the removal of stubborn, hard supragingival and subgingival calculus and concretions in all quadrants.

The PS Instrument, the Handpiece and the NO PAIN¹ electronic module have to vibrate in harmony as a trilogy. Using so-called “compatible” and copy tips from third parties can damage your patients’ teeth as well as EMS handpieces. The originals were developed and made for each other by EMS.
One Instrument PS is designed for up to 1,000 treatments, thus reducing the cost of one treatment to only a few cents. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason to ""save"" money by using so-called ""compatible"" tips.

PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ uses linear oscillations at 32,000 movements per second to create precise and gentle vibrations. It includes:
- Intelligent Power Feedback: Automatically adjusts output based on resistance detected during use.
- Linear Movement: Reduces trauma to soft tissues and maximizes comfort.
- Temperature Control: Water temperature can be adjusted (non-heated up to 40°C) for sensitive patients.
PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ is EMS's advanced ultrasonic scaling system, engineered to provide maximum comfort during treatment. It uses piezoelectric technology to deliver linear, precise vibrations — unlike magnetostrictive or air scalers — and only delivers power when and where it's needed.
The system works as a trilogy of three core elements:
- Electronic Module (NO PAIN¹) – Intelligently regulates power delivery in real time.
- PIEZON® Handpiece – Houses the piezoelectric crystal that ensures precise, linear motion.
- PS Instrument – A slim, uniquely versatile tip designed for both supragingival and subgingival use.
The NO PAIN¹ module uses adaptive power control — power increases only when resistance (like calculus) is detected and decreases when it’s no longer needed. This smart feedback system:

The EMS PIEZON® PS (Perio Slim) Instrument is a precision-engineered ultrasonic scaler tip crafted in Switzerland. It's designed for both supragingival and subgingival scaling, reaching depths up to 10 mm. Its slim, probe-like design ensures gentle, minimally invasive treatments, making it suitable for 95% of clinical cases.
Each PS Instrument is designed for over 1,000 treatments, translating to a cost of just a few cents per patient. Regular checks are recommended, and the instrument should be replaced once wear reaches 2 mm to maintain optimal performance.
