Make the invisible visible — reveal biofilm effortlessly

Biofilm Discloser
Make biofilm visible!

The goal of GBT is to remove all oral biofilm - even in hard-to-reach areas. With conventional professional teeth cleaning, only 50% of oral biofilm is removed in hard-to-reach areas.* When biofilm is made visible, it can be removed much faster and more precisely. Disclosed biofilm on teeth and soft tissues motivates the patient to improve home prevention (home care) in the context of Oral Hygiene Instructions (OHI).

Biofilm becomes visible only by disclosing with the original EMS Biofilm Discloser.

This visualization prevents over-instrumentation (dual tone).

The disclosed biofilm guides the practitioner through the treatment.

Targeted biofilm removal leads to significantly better results.

FAQ

This is the second step in the GBT protocol — biofilm disclosure. It allows both the clinician and patient to visualize biofilm before removal.

The disclosing agent comes in a plastic bottle containing 250 preloaded pellets. Each pellet is ready to use, making it simple and convenient during clinical procedures.

The active ingredient is erythrosin, a two-tone disclosing dye used to highlight biofilm on the teeth.

A two-tone dye differentiates between:

  • Mature biofilm (more than 3 days old)
  • Fresh biofilm (less than 3 days old)
This helps in identifying neglected areas and adjusting hygiene routines accordingly.

It supports education and motivation. Patients can clearly see where plaque builds up and where brushing or flossing needs improvement. This visual feedback helps reinforce better oral hygiene habits.

For dental professionals, the disclosing agent makes supragingival biofilm easier to identify and remove. It allows for a minimally invasive approach by targeting only areas with visible biofilm, preserving healthy tooth surfaces.

While primarily used in clinical settings as part of GBT, patients can also use disclosing agents periodically at home to monitor their brushing effectiveness—under the guidance of their dental provider.
